HISTORY OF MALOLOS, BULACAN
In the Philippine history, many annals are recorded in Malolos, Bulacan- capital of the temporary Philippine republic. It can be connected to the great patriots and heroes such as Emilio Aguinaldo, Jose Rizal and others who will be forever engraved in our past.
The name Malolos came from the Tagalog word "Paluslos" meaning "downward". When the first spanish missionaries searched along Calumpit River, they encountered some natives in the riverside barrio or Kanalate. They asked what is this place and the natives, not knowing the spanish language, answered That the direction of the river in that area is downstream or paluslos. But the spaniards misinterpret it and pronounced it Malolos. Changes in name through the years led to the name Malolos.
The area of Malolos came from a small colonization by the spanish missionaries. After removing the forests and virgin lands, the habitat grew as well as the population. After building a big church, the area now became a town. The population of the town is consists of Tagalogs and they were led by remarkable families such as the Gatsalians (Gatchalian) and the Manahans.
